Our initial approach to every patient
The initial consultation for every systemically compromised patient covers a thorough medical history and full examination including neurovascular assessment, biomechanical assessment including joint and muscle function, examination of skin, toe nails and shoe wear. Treatment is also offered at the initial consultation. A full report will be sent to the patient’s doctor or referrer following this consult. Reports on the latest neurovascular assessment will be sent to the referrer when indicated in accordance with current best practice protocols.
Our follow up approach
Follow up consultations generally include monitoring of current neurovascular status, assessment of current footwear and general foot health. Treatment includes ongoing skin and nail care, diabetic foot care education and advice and modification of footwear as needed.
The Medicare Plus Program provides limited cover for patients with chronic and complex conditions such as diabetes, arthritis, etc. A referral and a Chronic Disease Management Plan from a GP is necessary for up to 5 fully bulk billed visits per year for those patients who fulfill the criteria.
