Medically-related Podiatry Conditions

Some medical conditions that affect your health can also affect your feet. Dr Buckley offers diagnosis, management and treatment or advice for foot-related symptoms associated with the following conditions:

  • Diabetes
  • Peripheral Vascular Disease
  • Neuropathies
  • Arthridities (different types of Arthritis)
  • Gout
  • Verrucae (warts)

The initial consultation for every systemically compromised patient covers a thorough medical history and full examination including neurovascular assessment, biomechanical assessment including joint and muscle function, examination of skin, toe nails and shoe wear. Treatment is also offered at the initial consultation. A full report will be sent to the patient’s doctor or referrer following this consult. Reports on the latest neurovascular assessment will be sent to the referrer when indicated in accordance with current best practice protocols.

Follow up consultations generally include monitoring of current neurovascular status, assessment of current footwear and general foot health. Treatment includes ongoing skin and nail care, diabetic foot care education and advice and modification of footwear as needed.

Bulk-billed Medicare Arrangement

If you are suffering from a chronic disease or illness such as diabetes, or arthritis, you may be eligible for up to 5 free visits per year to our Podiatrist under the Medicare Program.  To qualify for this benefit, you will need to seek a referral and Chronic Disease Management Plan from your GP.
